A fire broke out in the hamam located on the lower floor of the Bayrampaşa District Governorship building, which has been reported to be inactive for some time, causing a brief panic inside the building. As thick smoke enveloped the building, the district governorship staff was evacuated as a precaution, and the flames were extinguished by the fire department before they spread to the upper floors.
The fire that broke out in the closed bath located in the basement of the Bayrampaşa District Governorship building caused great commotion. The building was evacuated due to heavy smoke, and the fire was extinguished by the intervention of the fire brigade.
Fearful moments were experienced today around noon in the District Governorship building located in the Muratpaşa neighborhood of Bayrampaşa. A fire broke out around 2:30 PM in the bath located in the lower part of the governorship building, which has been out of service for about 4 months, for an undetermined reason.
SMOKE FILLED THE ENTIRE BUILDING
The fire that started in the bath quickly grew, creating dense smoke. As the smoke spread to the offices on the upper floors, the personnel of the governorship and the citizens in the building experienced great panic. Upon notification of the situation, a large number of fire, police, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.
PERSONNEL WERE QUICKLY EVACUATED
As a precaution, the governorship building was completely evacuated. The fire brigade quickly intervened in the bath on the lower floor, which was the source of the dense smoke, and brought the flames under control. While cooling efforts were carried out after the fire, material damage occurred in the building.
THE GOVERNOR CONDUCTED AN INSPECTION AT THE SCENE
After the incident, Bayrampaşa District Governor Abdullah Çiftçi came to the fire area and conducted inspections. Receiving detailed information from fire officials about the cause of the fire and the condition of the building, Governor Çiftçi closely monitored the situation of the personnel.
The police and fire teams launched a large-scale investigation to determine the cause of the fire in the bath, which has been closed for 4 months.
