Brazilian midfielder Fernando Reges, who also played for Galatasaray in the past, has ended his football career.

Brazilian defensive midfielder Fernando Reges, who made waves in the Super League while wearing the Galatasaray jersey, announced that he has ended his professional football career. 

FERNANDO SAYS GOODBYE TO FOOTBALL

The experienced star, nicknamed "Octopus" by the yellow-red fans due to his playing style, ended his active football life at the age of 38.

Fernando, who transferred from Manchester City to Galatasaray in 2017, became a fan favorite during his two seasons in Turkey. The Brazilian player, who stood out with his midfield dominance and football intelligence, crowned his career in Turkey with 2 Super League Championships, 1 Turkish Cup, and 1 Super Cup victory.

A CAREER AT THE TOP OF EUROPE

Not only at Galatasaray but also leaving a deep mark in Europe's giant clubs, Reges won the UEFA Europa League with Porto, the English League Cup with Manchester City, and two more UEFA Europa League titles with Sevilla, being recorded as one of the most consistent midfielders in history.

FAREWELL MESSAGE

Spending the final period of his career at Internacional, one of his country's teams, and lastly at his childhood club Vila Nova, Fernando expressed in his farewell message that he is grateful for everything football has given him, stating, "Every moment I spent on the field, every trophy I won, and every jersey I wore was an honor for me. It is now time for a new beginning."
