Former FIFA referee and Chairman of the Georgian Central Referee Committee, Cüneyt Çakır, announced during the "Milliyet and Football Agenda" session that he will serve as an administrator in the 2026 World Cup, which will be jointly organized by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
49-year-old Çakır stated that he was informed of this duty through a phone call, saying, "This was one of my biggest dreams after retiring from refereeing. I am very happy to have achieved this dream. For the first time, a Turk will serve as an administrator in an organization of this scale."

Cüneyt Çakır has made many firsts in his refereeing career. The experienced referee, who officiated at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, became the first Turkish referee to officiate a final in the UEFA Champions League by managing the final match between Barcelona and Juventus on June 6, 2015.
