The National Solidarity, Democracy, and Brotherhood Commission listened to public opinion researchers in the Parliament. GENAR President İhsan Aktaş stated that public support has reached 59%, and if a constitutional amendment comes to the agenda, he proposed a "imperial constitution that will encompass those coming from all over the world," leaving behind the discussions of Kurdishness and Turkishness.
The National Solidarity, Democracy, and Brotherhood Commission established in the Turkish Grand National Assembly listened to representatives of public opinion research organizations at its 12th meeting. Experts from 10 different research centers shared their data regarding the resolution process. İhsan Aktaş, the President of GENAR Research, stated that public support for the process is in the range of 50-59%. However, he emphasized that there are still doubts about achieving success.
"AS LONG AS CHP REMAINS AT THE TABLE..."
Aktaş pointed out that the main burden of the process is carried by the MHP, AK Party, and DEM Party, stating, "The CHP has its own difficulties. It is normal to consider its hesitations. But as long as the CHP remains at the table and increases its positive attitude, I believe that support across Turkey will also be high," he said.
"EMPIRE CONSTITUTION" OUTBURST
Emphasizing that any potential constitutional change should be addressed not only through ethnic identities but with a much more inclusive understanding, Aktaş stated, "The new constitution should be an 'empire constitution' that leaves behind the discussions of Kurdishness and Turkishness and encompasses those coming from all over the world."
STOLE THE SHOW AT THE MEETING
Representatives from other research organizations also shared their observations regarding the process during the meeting; however, the most striking statement of the session was made by İhsan Aktaş, the President of GENAR, regarding public opinion data and the constitutional proposal.
