Fatma Girik, one of the unforgettable names of Turkish cinema, was commemorated with a ceremony held at her grave in Bodrum. However, it drew attention that only 10 people attended the memorial service.
Between 1956 and 2012, the unforgettable name of Yeşilçam, Fatma Girik, who appeared in more than 200 films and series, spent the last years of her life in the Torba neighborhood of Bodrum.
Girik passed away on January 24, 2022, due to multiple organ failure that developed while she was being treated for viral pneumonia related to Covid-19.

The artist, who passed away at the age of 79, was commemorated in a ceremony held at the Torba Cemetery where she was buried. Fatma Girik's sister, Müyesser Girik, several neighborhood residents, and Bodrum Municipality officials attended the ceremony. It was noteworthy that approximately 10 people and 8 members of the press attended the memorial service.
PRAYERS WERE READ
During the ceremony, prayers were read for Fatma Girik, her mother Münevver Ukav, Director Memduh Ün, and artist Akrep Nalan, who are also buried in the same cemetery. After the ceremony, Müyesser Girik made a brief statement to the press, saying, "We are searching, we miss her."
