On February 6, 2023, 678 housing units were built under the name "Anka Residences" in place of the Ebrar Site, which became a grave for approximately 1,400 people in Kahramanmaraş. In exclusive statements to Haberler.com, Urban Transformation President Hakkı Alp described the simultaneous construction of 455,000 housing units in the city as "a revival effort the size of a full European country."
On February 6, 2023, the epicenter of the earthquakes was in Kahramanmaraş, where 18 out of 22 blocks of the Ebrar Site were destroyed, leaving approximately 1400 people buried. On the anniversary of the earthquakes, referred to as the "disaster of the century," Hakkı Alp, the Head of Urban Transformation at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, made special statements to Haberler.com in front of the Ebrar Site, which has become a symbol of the earthquake.
EBRAR SITE ROSE FROM THE ASHES
Providing information about the current state of the Ebrar Site, Alp stated, "The area we are currently in is where the pain is felt the most; almost the entire Ebrar Site was destroyed. In its place, with the new name Anka Residences, 678 residences and 107 commercial units were delivered to our rightful owners after a very rapid construction process, of course, with ground improvements, recreational areas, and the renewal of infrastructure, and life has begun here."

Alp stated, "When we evaluate the entire Kahramanmaraş, a total of 74 thousand residences and commercial units were constructed by our Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, and the rules were drawn for the rightful owners, and the deliveries were made. In our 11 provinces directly affected by the earthquake, and 18 provinces indirectly affected, on December 27, we conducted the lottery and delivery ceremony for 455 thousand independent units with the participation of our esteemed President."

Addressing the construction processes of the projects, Alp said: "As the Head of Urban Transformation, alongside being a Turkish engineer, the simultaneous construction of 455 thousand residences is, in the exact words of our Minister, a restoration project the size of a European country. This, of course, requires significant experience and strong will."
