A citizen from Trabzon designed a handmade convertible vehicle named "Zigana" entirely on his own. However, after receiving significant attention, he faced a setback. Following news reports, the individual was summoned to the Yomra District Gendarmerie Command, where a report was filed stating that if the vehicle is seen on the road, an administrative fine will be imposed and the vehicle will be confiscated.

Sabri Yavuz, who worked as a driver in Istanbul for many years, produced a two-seater car with a convertible top in his workshop in 2005 without receiving engineering education. After retiring and returning to his hometown of Trabzon's Yomra district with his polyester-bodied, Lombardini engine vehicle, Yavuz encountered intense interest from those around him. However, following news reports, Yavuz was summoned to the Yomra District Gendarmerie Command.

THERE IS NO REGISTRATION RECORD FOR THE VEHICLE

In the examination conducted, it was determined that the vehicle had no registration record and that it was illegal to drive on the road. In this context, a report was prepared, and it was stated that if the vehicle was seen in traffic, an administrative fine would be imposed and the vehicle would be confiscated. Sabri Yavuz expressed that he wanted to meet with Trabzon Governor Aziz Yıldırım to enable the use of his vehicle on village roads and that he was expecting support from the authorities.

"I AM NOT DRIVING THIS VEHICLE ON THE ROAD, I CAN'T SLEEP"

Sabri Yavuz, who stated that he would burn the vehicle he worked hard on, said, "They called me from the Yomra District Gendarmerie Command and asked me to come. They said our governor called us because you have a car that made it to the media. They took my statement. The governor has seen it, and they said I shouldn't go on the road, otherwise, we will take your car. I am not driving this vehicle on the road. I went on the road visually. The governor probably saw that, but a ban cannot happen suddenly. There was no need to restrict me like this. I put effort into this. I represented Turkey in Formula races with this vehicle. I am not going on asphalt. I drive this vehicle on village roads. I have hazelnut orchards, and I use this to go there. I do work with the trailer I attach to it. There are similar vehicles like this all over the country. They also go on the road. They are also part of agriculture. I couldn't understand why they are restricting me. They prepared a report. I want to meet with the governor. I am seeking help from my Minister of Interior and my President. Our President is a person who loves such things. I know this is prohibited. I used to go to Formula races by getting permission from the gendarmerie. I am not a person who acts on my own. It is a vehicle that goes 20 kilometers per hour. If they do not allow me, I am thinking of burning this vehicle. We respect the ban, but I went on the road for visual purposes. They should not ban me from village roads; there are no vehicles on those roads anyway. This was my passion, and after this incident, I can no longer sleep," he expressed.
