BROKE INTO THE HOUSE AND RAN UPSTAIRS
It was reported that 43-year-old Judson Defir forcibly entered a house in Portland during the daytime on March 15. The suspect reportedly shouted, "Honey, I'm here," as soon as he entered and quickly ran upstairs.
ATTACKED WHILE HOLDING HER BABY
Defir, who is alleged to have attacked the mother holding her 10-month-old baby upstairs, reportedly attempted to rape the woman by forcing her onto the bed. It was noted that a 3-year-old child was also in the room during the incident.
According to the police report, the suspect was pressing the woman face down on the bed while the baby was still in the mother's arms. The woman managed to convince the attacker to let her put the baby in the crib.
LOCKED HERSELF IN THE ROOM AND CALLED FOR HELP
After the suspect was briefly released, the woman escaped to another room, barricaded the door with a bookshelf, and called for help. Meanwhile, her husband, who was in the garden, heard the screams and ran into the house. The suspect fled the scene.
CHAIN OF ATTACKS REVEALED
The police revealed that the suspect had sexually assaulted a woman at a nearby church just minutes before the incident and had also harassed two other women walking on the street. It was stated that Defir entered the house after these incidents.
“I ACCIDENTALLY BUMPED INTO HER” DEFENSE
The detained suspect denied the allegations, claiming that he "accidentally bumped into" the woman. It was reported that he stated he had used drugs on the day of the incident and had gone to breakfast at the church.
HAS A LONG CRIMINAL RECORD
It was learned that Defir had been detained multiple times in the past and had a criminal record for offenses such as assault and driving under the influence. The suspect reportedly has more than a dozen criminal records over the past 25 years.
The suspect was arrested on the same day on charges of attempted rape and kidnapping. The investigation is ongoing, and new charges may also arise.
