In Diyarbakır, the indictment prepared against 7 suspects regarding the shooting and burning to death of Remzi Sati and his son Muhammed, requesting two aggravated life sentences each, has been accepted by the court. The indictment states that the suspect confessed to sending a message from Remzi Sati's phone to another person saying, "Let's settle the score at the old sand pit," in an attempt to mislead investigators after the incident.
On May 19, those who saw a truck burning in the empty land near the rural Köprübaşı neighborhood of the Sur district in Diyarbakır reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Firefighters, medical teams, and gendarmerie were dispatched to the area upon the notification.
FATHER AND SON WERE FOUND SHOT WITH A GUN IN THE BURNED TRUCK The fire was extinguished by the firefighters' intervention. During the investigation, the lifeless bodies of Remzi Sati and his son Muhammed were found in the truck. It was determined that the father and son were shot dead and then burned with a flammable substance.
7 PEOPLE WERE ARRESTED The funerals were buried in the family cemetery in the neighborhood after the autopsy procedures. In the investigation related to the incident, Ali Mert İldeniz (25), Ali Özbek (32), Ayhan İldeniz (58), İshak Kaya (40), Mehmet Duruş (26), Mehmet Kaya (44), and Osman Kaya (44) were arrested.
'COW HAS GONE MISSING' SCENARIO AND CONFESSION The indictment prepared by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the 7 arrested suspects was accepted by the Diyarbakır 3rd High Criminal Court. The indictment included the statement of suspect Ali Mert İldeniz. It was stated in the indictment that İldeniz had a dispute with the victim Remzi Sati due to animal buying and selling, that Remzi Sati sold him animals at a price higher than their value, and that a feud arose between them. İldeniz confessed to planning to kill Remzi Sati, creating a scenario that a cow had gone missing to call Remzi S. to the area, and then putting his cell phone in airplane mode and hiding it in a tree hollow in their garden. When Remzi Sati arrived with his son Muhammed Sati, he said that he could not find the animal, then told Remzi Sati that he had deceived him regarding the animal trade, which led to a dispute, and he confessed to shooting the father and son with a gun.
HE SENT A MESSAGE TO ANOTHER PERSON TO DISTRACT It was stated that İldeniz fired again with the remaining bullets to ensure that the father and son were dead and set the vehicle on fire to destroy evidence, pouring cologne into the vehicle and igniting it. In his statement, İldeniz mentioned that after killing the father and son, he took Remzi Sati's phone and sent a message to Ali Özbek saying, 'Come, let's settle this at the old sand pit' to mislead.
FIREARMS RESIDUE WAS FOUND ON SOME SUSPECTS' CLOTHING The prosecution presented HTS analysis reports, expert reports, camera footage, and forensic examination findings as evidence. The indictment noted that in addition to Ali Mert İldeniz, who confessed to the crime, the phones of Ayhan İldeniz and Mehmet Durmuş were recorded at the crime scene, that Mehmet Kaya turned off his phone during the time the incident occurred, similar to Ali Mert İldeniz, and that the phone was later activated. It was recorded that some suspects were recorded at the crime scene and its vicinity during the time of the incident, that one suspect turned off his phone during a specific time period, and that camera footage identified the route of the victim's truck. Forensic reports included evaluations regarding the presence of gunshot residue on some suspects' clothing. It was noted that in the days leading up to the incident, the suspects had been in frequent phone contact with Remzi Sati. Additionally, it was understood that the bodies had been charred and turned into carbon, indicating that the suspects had used a strong flammable substance like gasoline for the burning process, rather than cologne as stated by Ali Mert İldeniz.
2 AGGRAVATED LIFE SENTENCES WERE REQUESTED FOR 7 SUSPECTS The indictment stated that when the scope of the case was evaluated, it was understood that the suspects acted in concert to intentionally kill Remzi Sati and his son Muhammed by shooting and burning them with a cruel intent, and it was requested that they be sentenced to two aggravated life sentences each.
