At a gas station in Mersin, a potential LPG explosion that could have occurred when the driver started the vehicle was prevented thanks to the quick intervention of the attendant.
In Mersin, a potential disaster was averted thanks to the quick intervention of a different attendant when a driver began to move their vehicle while the LPG pump was still attached.
The incident occurred at a gas station located on Çiftçiler Street in the Yalınayak neighborhood of the central Toroslar district. Ertuğrul Talaş, who has been working at the station for about 7 years, noticed that the pump for the vehicle being filled with LPG had not been removed after fueling a different vehicle. Upon realizing that the driver was preparing to move the vehicle, Talaş quickly intervened. He ran to the back of the vehicle and removed the LPG pump at the last moment, preventing a possible disaster. The moments were captured second by second on the station's security cameras. The footage shows Talaş running to remove the pump just as the vehicle was about to move.
"IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A HUGE EXPLOSION"
Describing the events, Talaş stated that if the LPG pump had not been removed, it could have led to a major disaster, saying, "While I was fueling a different pump, I saw the LPG pump that my friend had attached to another vehicle. At that moment, I realized that the vehicle was going to move. I sensed that there would be a great danger and ran to intervene. Just as I was removing the pump, the vehicle started to move. If I hadn't removed it, the LPG would have leaked and it could have caused a huge explosion," he said.
