THEY ATTACKED HIM WHILE HE WAS ON HIS WAY HOME
The incident occurred around 11:00 PM yesterday on 1658th Street in Orhangazi Neighborhood. According to reports, Himmet Sarıçayır, who owns an electrical shop in Avcılar, left his workplace to go home. After getting off the minibus, while passing through Yasemin Park next to the building he lives in, one person pulled Sarıçayır's hood and insulted him. Thinking the suspect was a child, Sarıçayır continued on his way.
“THEY ASSAULTED ME BY THREATENING”
While waiting for the door to open to enter his home, Sarıçayır was threatened by the suspects, who were determined to be underage, coming from behind. Sarıçayır claimed that he was asked for protection money, and when he refused to give the requested amount, a dispute broke out. At that moment, Sarıçayır grabbed one of the extortionists by the collar and asked them to leave. A large group that forced the door and entered the building attacked Sarıçayır. While Sarıçayır shouted for help from his neighbors, the suspects fled the scene. Sarıçayır went to the police station to file a complaint, and the police initiated an investigation into the matter. The moment of the attack was captured by the security camera of the building where Sarıçayır lives.
“THEY SAID, ‘WE WILL KILL YOU’”
Himmet Sarıçayır, who claims he was attacked, said, “I was coming home after leaving work. In the middle of Yasemin Park, there were about 10-15 young people who are always there. One of the young people ran up, pulled my hood even though I didn’t know him. Then he made a gesture with his hand and went back to his friends laughing. I thought, ‘He’s just a kid,’ and continued on my way. When I got to the door and rang the bell, they came from behind. They said, ‘You will give us money; we are loan sharks.’ As I was saying, ‘Is there still loan sharking in Turkey?’ the door opened. I pulled the person who asked me for protection money inside and grabbed him by the collar. I said, ‘Is there still loan sharking in Turkey? You’re a kid, get lost.’ The others forced the door, broke in. I ran towards the stairs. I shouted for help from my neighbors. They threatened me, saying, ‘We are always in this park. We will hang you, cut you, and kill you.’ I called 112 Emergency Call Center. The police came. I am calling out to the authorities. We want cameras; we have no camera, we have no safety,” he said.
