The lifeless body of fisherman Refik Sahiloğulları, who opened his business in the Samandağ district of Hatay on December 2, was found in Northern Cyprus 12 days later.
The lifeless body of a fisherman, who set out to the Mediterranean by boat from the Samandağ district of Hatay and had been missing for 12 days, was found washed ashore in the city of Kyrenia, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The fisherman Refik Sahiloğulları (57), who lived in the Samandağ district of Hatay, set out to sea with his boat from the Çevlik beach in the Kapısuyu neighborhood early in the morning on December 2 to fish.
BOAT FOUND EMPTY
The boat belonging to Sahiloğulları was found empty by another fisherman. Upon seeing that the boat was empty, the fisherman reported the situation to the Coast Guard Command. Search efforts were initiated by AFAD and the Coast Guard Command to find the fisherman, who had not been heard from since.
SAD NEWS AFTER 12 DAYS
While the search efforts by the teams lasted for 12 days without results, the lifeless body of the missing fisherman was found washed ashore in the Karşıyaka area of Kyrenia, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. It was learned that the body of Sahiloğulları, whose identity was confirmed and family was informed, would be buried in the Samandağ district in the coming days.
