The Director of the Samsun Land Registry and Cadastre 10th Region, Yılmaz Uzun, warned that old-style identity cards will no longer be valid at land registry offices as of January 1, 2025. In his statement regarding the issue, Yılmaz Uzun said, "In accordance with the principle that the land registry is maintained under the flawless responsibility of the state; in order to ensure that the identification of rights holders and personal identity information can be carried out in a more reliable manner, our administration uses the Electronic Identity Verification System (EKDS) with Turkish Republic identity cards (chip identity cards). In this context, it has become mandatory to use chip identity cards instead of population registers to ensure that transactions at our land registry offices can be carried out in a healthier, more effective, and reliable manner." "CALL TO CHANGE YOUR IDENTITY"Uzun called on citizens to change their identities to avoid being disadvantaged, stating, "Citizens who do not renew their identity will not be able to carry out any transactions at our land registry offices as of January 1, 2025. The identity documents issued by the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) to members of the legislative body, former members, and ministers appointed from outside, as well as lawyer identity cards, will continue to be used in land transactions. Our citizens need to change their old population registers with new identity cards to avoid any grievances."
