A 47-year-old man, who is accused of raping a disabled woman in the Gowa region of Indonesia, was lynched by an angry mob. To escape the villagers' reaction, the perpetrator first sought refuge in a relative's house and then hid in the forest. However, when he emerged from the forest in search of food, he was recognized and captured by the crowd.
A horrific lynching incident occurred in the Gowa region of Indonesia. A 47-year-old man named Ali, who was wanted for allegedly raping a disabled woman, was captured and killed by an angry mob. During the lynching, it was reported that Ali was severely beaten, his genitals were cut off, and his body was dragged through the streets.
The incident took place on November 30. The disabled woman, identified only as "T," was found severely injured and in shock, which sparked a massive outpouring of anger in the area. According to reports, Ali, the alleged perpetrator of the attack, initially sought refuge in a relative's house to escape the villagers' wrath, and then hid in the forest.
However, Ali was recognized when he emerged from the forest on December 3 in search of food and was quickly captured by the crowd. Villagers say that Ali was not only targeted for this attack but had also been stealing for a long time and disturbing the peace in the area.
In the circulated images, Ali is seen being beaten with sticks, stones, and clubs while his hands and feet are bound. The crowd then tied his body to wooden poles and paraded it through the village streets after cutting off his genitals. In the evening, a group of motorcyclists dragged the body along the road. During this time, the crowd was cheering and recording the footage with their phones.
Gowa Police Chief Muhammed Aldy Sulaeman stated that teams were sent to the scene and that the area has been brought under control. Sulaeman said, "We are aware of the violent images. We have stabilized the situation in the area, and our investigation is ongoing. Initial information indicates that the lynched individual was accused of rape, but we are investigating how the events unfolded."
The police, along with forensic teams, the criminal bureau, the intelligence unit, and local police, have launched a comprehensive investigation. It was also reported that efforts are being made to identify those involved in the lynching.
A villager named Enal claimed that Ali had been causing problems in the area for a long time, stating:
"People were looking for Ali because of what he did to the disabled woman. He first hid in a relative's house, then fled to the forest. When he was caught, his genitals were cut off. He was already constantly stealing. He had just stolen a neighbor's laptop. No one in this village will miss him."
Authorities stated that the investigation is being conducted meticulously due to the magnitude of the incident.
