The speakers Ela Rumeysa Cebeci, Meltem Acet, and Hande Sarıoğlu were detained as part of a drug operation. Cebeci and Acet were released after their statements were taken at the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command. Hande Sarıoğlu stated in a statement she made last night that she was only consulted for her knowledge.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Smuggling, Narcotics, and Economic Crimes Investigation Bureau conducted an operation regarding the crime of "purchasing, accepting, or possessing drugs or stimulants for personal use, or using drugs or stimulants."
In the operation, famous presenters Meltem Acet, Ela Rümeysa Cebeci, and Hande Sarıoğlu were brought to the Istanbul Courthouse after health checks.
THEY WERE RELEASED
After giving statements at the prosecutor's office, Acet and Cebeci were later referred to the Forensic Medicine Institution (ATK). The presenters, who were detained on charges of "drug or stimulant use," were released after their statements and the collection of blood samples.
SARIĞLU: THERE IS NO ACCUSATION AGAINST ME
Hande Sarıoğlu, who gave a statement as part of the operation, made a statement on her social media account. Sarıoğlu said, "My family, friends, and those who follow me on social media... As you know, false news emerged today regarding my detention due to an investigation. Everyone can be at ease, friends. I was not detained; I came to Istanbul from Ankara at the request made to me in the morning, and I was only consulted for information by the relevant investigation authorities. As I said, there is nothing concerning me, and there is no accusation against me. My lawyers – who are also my cousins – my dear Emre, İlknur Güleç, and my brother Mustafa Sarıoğlu, we are together as a family." she said.
