In Bolu, 69 people from 4 villages experienced symptoms of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain during the night and sought medical attention. Initial results from samples taken from water sources in the villages came back normal. In 2022, 148 people in the city had sought hospital treatment for water poisoning, and one person had died.

In the villages of Çamyayla, Örencik, Okçular, and Ilıcakınık, which are connected to the center of Bolu, 69 people sought treatment at hospitals in the city during the night due to complaints of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. After their treatments, all 69 individuals were discharged.

Meanwhile, samples of water taken from the 4 villages were sent to the laboratory for analysis by the teams of the Provincial Health Directorate. It has been learned that an investigation has been initiated by the Bolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the incident.

GOVERNORATE: INITIAL RESULTS NORMAL

In a statement made by the Bolu Governorate, it was noted that an investigation was initiated by the Provincial Health Directorate under the coordination of the Governorate following applications to health institutions due to complaints of nausea and vomiting in the village of Çamyayla, connected to the central district, around 21:00 on May 11.

As a result of evaluations, it was reported that individuals with similar complaints who were found to be fed from the same water source in the villages of Çamyayla, Örencik, Okçular, and Ilıcakınık were also included in the investigation. The statement included the following:

"Samples have been taken from the network water sources, residual chlorine measurements are being conducted, and laboratory analyses are ongoing. Our citizens who applied to health institutions have been discharged after their examinations and treatments, and one citizen has been hospitalized for observation, with plans for discharge."

The statement indicated that the initial laboratory results were normal, stating, "The results of new samples are being monitored. All public health measures related to the issue have been taken, and field studies and investigations are being carried out meticulously."

In July 2022, after the Eid al-Adha in Yuva village of Bolu, 148 people, including children, sought treatment at hospitals due to complaints of vomiting and nausea caused by drinking water, resulting in 1 death, while 147 were discharged. Some patients transferred to various hospitals in Ankara were diagnosed with Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS), which presented with bloody diarrhea, anemia, and acute kidney failure. It was determined that Eyüp Ertem died due to an infection caused by the "E. coli" bacteria detected in the network water.
