In mid-May, it snowed in the city center of Erzurum. As the streets were covered in white, traffic disruptions occurred. In the Karlıova district of Bingöl, about 20 centimeters of snow fell, leaving vehicles stranded on the road.
In Erzurum, famous for its snow and cold, the snow that fell in May did not surprise the citizens much. The rain, which started with heavy downpours at night, turned into snow by the morning hours.
TRAFFIC DISRUPTED
The heavy snowfall suddenly covered the city center, especially the high areas, in white. The snowfall, which occasionally caused disruptions in traffic, forced citizens to use their umbrellas.
According to the forecasts of the Meteorology 12th Regional Directorate; it is expected that the weather in the region, including Erzurum, will be partly and very cloudy, with intermittent and local heavy rain and thunderstorms.
20 CENTIMETERS OF SNOW FELL IN KARLIOVA
The Karlıova district, which receives the most snow in Turkey during the winter months, could not escape the snow either. The snowfall, which has been effective since last night, brought life to a standstill. Disruptions in transportation occurred on the Bingöl-Erzurum highway due to the heavy snow. While many vehicles were stranded, lucky drivers with snow tires continued to drive slowly in traffic.
While the highway teams were clearing the snow from the roads, officials warned citizens about potential adverse conditions.
