In the fourth hearing of the case regarding the stabbing murder of 15-year-old Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi in Kadıköy, a witness crisis occurred. The hearing was postponed to October 2 due to the absence of 7 witnesses who were expected to testify today, and it was decided that the police would forcibly bring the 7 witnesses to court.
The fourth hearing of the case regarding the stabbing death of Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi (15), who went to a flea market in Kadıköy, Istanbul, to buy skateboarding equipment, has started at the 2nd Children's Heavy Penal Court.
UP TO 24 YEARS OF IMPRISONMENT SOUGHT
In the case where 2 defendants are being tried with a request for up to 24 years of imprisonment, the court panel had withdrawn from the case file due to a request for a change of judge in the previous hearing. This hearing will be presided over by a new court president. While the remaining witnesses are expected to be heard in the fourth hearing, it is also anticipated that the expert report that could not be submitted in the third hearing will be presented to the court.
A LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE AT THE COURTHOUSE FOR SUPPORT
On the other hand, a large number of people came to the courthouse to support the Minguzzi family. Those who came to show support chanted "Justice for Mattia Ahmet" in front of the courtroom where the hearing will take place. Minguzzi's mother, Yasemin Akıncılar, and father, Andrea Minguzzi, greeted each person who came to show support.
WITNESS CRISIS
According to information shared by journalist Emrullah Erdinç; 7 witnesses expected to be heard today did not attend the hearing. The court was adjourned due to the absence of the witnesses. If the witnesses are also not present in this hearing, they will be requested to be brought by police force.
INTERIM DECISION ANNOUNCED
The court president announced the interim decision. The hearing has been postponed to October 2, 2025. It was decided to bring the 7 witnesses by police force. Additionally, the indictments of defendants 3 and 4 were accepted and merged with the main case file. The detention of the 2 defendants will continue.
