A.H., a Moroccan national, who was asking for help from the window of a building under construction in Eyüpsultan, and his fiancée H.R., who was tied up with her hands and feet in the same apartment, were rescued by police teams. It was learned that the couple, who came to Istanbul as tourists, had been held hostage for four days for ransom, and one suspect was arrested.

On Wednesday, October 8, around 15:10, an incident occurred in the Alibeyköy neighborhood, where a woman climbed out of the window of a building under construction and shouted for help in Arabic. Those who saw the woman jump from the window alerted the police. Police teams who arrived at the scene provided first aid to the woman, who had jumped from the first floor of the building and sustained minor injuries.

POLICE CONDUCTED AN OPERATION, FOUND THEM WITH HANDS AND FEET TIED

Based on the statements of Moroccan national A.H., the police entered the building and found A.H.'s fiancée, H.R., in a room with her hands and feet tied. The rescued H.R. and her fiancé A.H. were taken to the police station for their statements, while searches conducted at the construction site uncovered 4 mobile phones, a knife referred to as a wedge, and an unlicensed firearm.

HELD HOSTAGE FOR 4 DAYS

The engaged couple, who stated they came to Istanbul as tourists, explained in their statements at the police station that they were kidnapped by individuals claiming to be from Afghanistan and had been held hostage with their hands and feet tied for 4 days. The victims reported that the suspects demanded a ransom of 18 thousand dollars by calling their families.

ONE SUSPECT ARRESTED, INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

In the investigation initiated by the Robbery Bureau, Z.Ş. (18), an Afghan national who fled the scene, was detained. During a search of the suspect, 3 mobile phones belonging to the kidnapped Moroccan couple were seized. Suspect Z.Ş. was arrested by the court and sent to prison, while it was learned that the police's work on the matter is ongoing.
