In the capital of Germany, Berlin, the police intervened harshly against supporters of Palestine protesting the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, where famine has spread due to Israel's attacks and the blockade restricting humanitarian aid.
Hundreds of demonstrators gathered around the Charli Checkpoint, one of the historical and tourist centers of Berlin, to protest Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip and the blockade restricting humanitarian aid.
HARSH ATTACK BY POLICE
The demonstrators demanded an end to the hunger in the Gaza Strip and chanted slogans in support of Palestine. Banners were also displayed with messages such as "Israel is killing Gaza with hunger," "Stop the genocide," and "Open the gates."
About 120 police officers attacked some of the 300 participants in the demonstration with punches and kicks. Due to the police's very harsh intervention, some demonstrators were injured.
STRONG REACTION TO POLICE ATTACK
The police's harsh stance received intense criticism on social media. In an announcement, the police stated that the actions of the demonstrators posed a "threat to public safety" and requested those participating in the demonstration to leave the area immediately.
Due to the ensuing scuffle, a large number of demonstrators were detained.
