HERE ARE THE SENTENCES GIVEN

The court ruled for the continuation of the detention of 107 individuals and sentenced over 40 individuals to aggravated life imprisonment, totaling thousands of years in prison.

FROM THE INDICTMENT OF BARIS BOYUN

Additionally, the prosecution's indictment included findings and evaluations regarding the "Barış Boyun criminal organization." The indictment stated that the profit-oriented criminal organization led by Boyun has distinct differences in terms of human resources, organization, and methods of crime compared to known established underground criminal organizations.

SELECTING MEMBERS FROM YOUNG PEOPLE

The indictment noted that the organization selects its members from young people aged 15 to 20, emphasizing that it is easier for organization members to reach those who are struggling with family issues, financial difficulties, or drug addiction, particularly among those aged 15 to 18 who are trying to find their place in society.

The indictment stated that minors seeking to create an identity for themselves chose to join the organization to earn money or distance themselves from their families, and that it was easier to convince minors who had previously committed crimes such as "intentional injury," "theft," and "possession of firearms" to participate in the organization and its activities. It was emphasized that children convinced to join the organization could also encourage their similarly aged friends to join, thus facilitating the establishment of new contacts by the organization's leaders. It was noted that minors from all over Turkey, who were deceived with promises of earning large amounts of money or being taken abroad, participated in activities without questioning.

"LUXURY LIFE IS GLAMORIZED"

The indictment stated that children who had never stayed in a hotel or lived a luxurious life were dazzled by drugs, alcohol, food, and women in hotel rooms or safe houses to which they were taken by organization members. Some children, who saw the idealized criminal environment and armed lifestyle depicted in television series or mafia shows on digital platforms, began to dream of such a lifestyle themselves.

Minors who saw the alarming types of weapons in phone and computer applications were further influenced by the organization, and the indictment assessed that their motivation to join the organization increased, ensuring their complete obedience. It was noted that children who came to the safe house but wanted to return for various reasons encountered the organization's intimidating face and could not break away from it, and that the organization directly used minors in many of its actions.

REQUESTS FOR PUNISHMENT

In a statement made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on December 3, it was stated that in the investigation conducted by the Child Crimes Investigation Bureau, 40 individuals, 23 of whom are detained and 16 under judicial control, were identified as participating in 32 separate actions carried out by the organized armed criminal organization led by Barış Boyun, who is detained in Italy. The statement included the following expressions: "The investigation has been completed regarding the crimes of 'being a member of an armed organization established for the purpose of committing a crime,' 'attempted intentional murder,' 'qualified theft,' 'threat with a weapon,' 'causing damage to property,' 'violation of the 6136 Firearms Law,' 'destruction, concealment, or alteration of evidence,' 'illegally bringing firearms or ammunition into the country, manufacturing, transporting, and selling them,' 'purchase, transportation, and possession of serious weapons or ammunition,' 'forgery in official documents,' and 'deliberately endangering public safety,' and a public lawsuit has been filed against the minors at the Child Heavy Penal Court with a request for imprisonment ranging from 20 months to 75 years and 6 months."
