As Israel's inhumane and illegal attacks on Gaza continue, the last ship of the Global Sumud Fleet, the Marinette, which set sail from the Mediterranean to break the blockade and deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, was raided.
ISRAEL'S RAID ON THE LAST SHIP HEADING TO GAZA
The smallest ship of the Sumud Fleet, which was advancing alone towards Gaza, the Marinette, was raided by Israeli forces. Communication with the ship was cut off at 10:30 AM Turkish time. Activists on board were forcibly taken to an Israeli ship. It was reported that there were also 4 Turkish citizens on the ship.
“WE DON’T KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN 1 OR 5 MINUTES” THEY SAID
Before the raid, Turkish activist Sinan Akılotu stated that they were following the fleet 100 miles behind due to engine failure and that they had escaped the Israeli attack last night because of this. Speaking from the ship, Akılotu said, "Let’s pray that Israel's eyes go blind, and hopefully, we reach Gaza without being seen."
Ömer Faruk Narlı, a mechanical engineer and volunteer for Gaza on board, stated, "We are continuing on our way. We are in the area where the Global Sumud Fleet is being raided. We don’t know what the next hours will bring. We don’t know what will happen in 1 or 5 minutes. We are alone."
“WE ARE AN OPEN TARGET” STATEMENT
Emphasizing that they are an "open target," Narlı noted: "Today, something was published by the terrorist Israeli Ministry of Defense expressing 'We are waiting for the last ship.' So we are an open target. We pray, we will try to break the blockade. I don’t know what the coming hours will bring."
