The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, stated that in the new period, natural gas bills will gradually change, and this change will vary according to cities and months.

The Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, shared important information regarding the new regulations on electricity and natural gas bills during a program he attended on CNN Türk.

A CONSUMPTION-BASED MODEL FOR NATURAL GAS IS COMING

Minister Bayraktar announced that a consumption-based tiered system will be implemented for natural gas, just like it is for electricity. Accordingly, natural gas bills will vary by cities and months.

"A NEW LIMIT WILL BE SET"

Reminding that 1.2 million subscribers who exceed an annual consumption of 5,000 kWh will be removed from support in 2024, Bayraktar stated that they are working on a new limit for 2025, saying, "We plan to set a new limit by the end of October this year."

WILL THERE BE A PRICE INCREASE FOR ELECTRICITY AND NATURAL GAS?

The Minister also answered a question about whether there will be a price increase for electricity and natural gas. Bayraktar expressed that the price increases for 2026 will be determined considering inflation expectations.

WHAT IS A TIERED TARIFF?

As of 2024, consumers exceeding an annual consumption of 5,000 kWh will not benefit from state support. With the new regulation, households consuming above this limit will be billed at high rates, similar to industrial establishments. This value is calculated by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) based on 240 kWh per month (8 kWh per day).
