Istanbul was shaken by a series of consecutive earthquakes. According to data on the website of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority, a total of 51 tremors occurred in the megacity, the largest of which was 6.2 in magnitude. According to information on the website of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), 51 aftershocks were experienced in the 3-hour period following the 3.9 magnitude earthquake that occurred at 12:13.

The smallest tremor was measured at 1.6 magnitude off the coasts of Silivri and Büyükçekmece in Istanbul, while the largest was 6.2 magnitude off the coast of Silivri. The depth of the earthquakes ranged from approximately 6 to 15 kilometers.

The 6.2 tremor caused citizens to take to the streets not only in Istanbul but also in Izmir, Balıkesir, Çanakkale, and Uşak. During the tremors, which caused great panic, some citizens jumped from heights in a state of panic.

There have been no casualties reported. The treatments of 151 citizens who were injured due to jumping from heights in panic are ongoing in hospitals, and they are not in life-threatening condition. There is no destruction reported in buildings where settlements exist throughout the city. In our Fatih district, a derelict building has collapsed, but there are no fatalities or injuries reported in the incident. Field studies by the relevant units are ongoing," it stated.
