The Istanbul Governorship announced that 11 people trapped under the rubble were rescued after the collapse of two buildings in the Ayvansaray neighborhood of the Fatih district, while also stating that 1 person lost their life.

A terrible disaster occurred around 12:00 PM on the last day of Ramadan Feast in Ebe Street, Ayvansaray Neighborhood, Fatih district of Istanbul.

2 BUILDINGS COLLAPSED

According to reports, 2 buildings in a row collapsed following an explosion caused by natural gas. A large number of police, fire brigade, health, and AFAD teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification.

1 PERSON DIED, 10 INJURED

The Istanbul Governorship announced that 11 people trapped under the rubble were rescued after the collapse of two buildings in Ayvansaray Neighborhood, Fatih district, while it was reported that 1 person lost their life.

In a statement made by the governorship, it was stated, "11 of our citizens trapped under the rubble after the explosion that occurred in Fatih Ayvansaray Neighborhood, resulting in the collapse of 2 buildings, have been rescued from the debris. One of our citizens has lost their life, and a total of 10 citizens, one of whom is in serious condition, have been injured."

AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED

Justice Minister Akın Gürlek, who made a statement on social media regarding the issue, said, "An official investigation has been initiated regarding the incident of the collapse of 2 buildings following the explosion that occurred in the Fatih district of Istanbul. Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 2 public prosecutors have been assigned, and the incident is being meticulously examined in all its aspects. We express our gratitude to our search and rescue teams who are selflessly working to reach our citizens under the rubble. We wish a speedy recovery to the injured citizens and are closely following the developments."
