Journalist and writer Enver Aysever was detained following a live broadcast on his YouTube channel. It was claimed that Aysever's comments regarding the statements of Ekrem İmamoğlu's father, Hasan İmamoğlu, in an interview, where he said, "Your property can be seized whenever they want; I deeply regret fighting against communism coming to our country," were used as the justification for his detention.
"HE CRITICIZED WITHIN THE SCOPE OF FREEDOM OF THOUGHT"
The lawyer who met with Aysever, who is in custody, at the Vatan Police Department stated that his client criticized within the scope of freedom of thought. The lawyer claimed that the broadcast was edited at the beginning and end on social media, creating a certain "perception" through this method.
"HE IS IN CUSTODY FOR CRITICIZING HASAN İMAMOĞLU'S WORDS"
The lawyer made the following statement: "We are currently in front of the Vatan Police Department. I met with my client Enver Aysever, and he sends his regards to everyone. He specifically requested that I make this statement. In line with his request, I am making this statement now. He has been detained here due to sharing critical thoughts about Hasan İmamoğlu's statements on his YouTube channel yesterday.
Unfortunately, in this YouTube broadcast, parts of the beginning and end were cut to create a perception, leading to my client's detention. However, when you examine the broadcast from beginning to end, you can see that Enver Aysever criticizes an understanding, protests against it, and expresses this clearly and openly within the scope of freedom of thought. Tomorrow morning, he will give a statement at the Küçükçekmece Courthouse, and we will attend his statement. Our hope is for him to be tried without detention. But unfortunately, my client has been detained due to the perception created on social media."

In his broadcast on his YouTube channel, Enver Aysever criticized right-wing politics through Hasan İmamoğlu's interview, stating, "When you are right-wing, you become immoral, or your morality becomes immorality," and used the following expressions: "Those who corrupt the morality of the Republic are all right-wingers from Menderes to the present. Right-wing politics is a crime. When you are right-wing, you become immoral, or your morality becomes immorality. Therefore, come and join the fight against right-wingers. There are no criteria for right-wing politics, it has no conscience, it engages in religious trading, it engages in nationalist trading. When you see a conscientious person, even if it's one in a thousand, do you know that they are leftist? They are leftist; a conscientious person is leftist. They cannot harm animals, trees, people, or the world. They view life from that perspective. Being leftist is the primary condition of being human. Never forget this. Whether we are religious or nationalist, if you think you are nationalist... no, only when you are leftist do you not trust money or wealth."
