Journalist Mehmet Akif Ersoy was arrested as part of a drug investigation, and former Habertürk Editor-in-Chief Veyis Ateş has been summoned to the courthouse for questioning.
Journalist Mehmet Akif Ersoy was arrested last week in a drug investigation and was detained by the court he was brought before. Following his arrest, Ersoy was also removed from his position as the editor-in-chief at Habertürk, which is managed by the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF).
VEYİS ATEŞ ALSO SUMMONED FOR TESTIMONY
The investigation that has shaken the media world has expanded. Former Habertürk Editor-in-Chief Veyis Ateş has also been summoned for testimony. Ateş arrived at the courthouse.
WHAT HAPPENED?
As part of the drug investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was announced that Mehmet Akif Ersoy and three others were detained by the Istanbul Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams, and that Ersoy was removed from his position as the General Editor of Habertürk TV by TMSF following this process. Mehmet Akif Ersoy was arrested by the court on charges of "providing a place and means for the use of narcotic substances," "gaining sectoral and material benefits by engaging women around him in sexual relations," and "establishing and managing an organization."
FAMOUS ANCHORS WERE ALSO DETAINED
Additionally, it was reported that anchors Ela Rumeysa Cebeci, Meltem Acet, and Hande Sarıoğlu were also detained as part of the same investigation, and after their procedures at the courthouse, they were referred to the Forensic Medicine Institution.
