Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz reacted to TÜRK-İŞ's announcement of the poverty line as 97,000 lira. In a statement made during the budget discussions in the Parliament, Yılmaz said, "TÜRK-İŞ says the poverty line is 97,000 TL. It claims that someone with an income close to 2,500 dollars is poor. This is not an approach based on international standards."
TÜRK-İŞ announced in recent weeks that the "hunger threshold" for a family of four in November is calculated to be 29,828 TL, and the "poverty threshold" is 97,159 TL.
RESPONSE TO TÜRK-İŞ'S ANNOUNCED FIGURE FROM YILMAZ
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz reacted to the figures announced by TÜRK-İŞ. Speaking during the budget discussions in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Yılmaz stated that the 97,000 TL figure is not based on international standards.

Yılmaz said, "I saw on television last month that TÜRK-İŞ says the poverty threshold is 97,000 TL. They say someone with an income close to 2,500 dollars is poor. This is not an approach based on international standards."
