Eyes are turned to the CHP's convention trial, which will be held tomorrow. While the decision from the trial is a matter of curiosity, one of the three individuals who filed the case, Lütfü Savaş, stated, "If it is said that there is no suspicion, I will be happy and pleased. If it is said that there is suspicion, those responsible will be removed from the party, and I will be happy again."

The lawsuit filed for the annulment of the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress and the 21st Extraordinary Congress will be heard tomorrow at the Ankara 42nd Civil Court of First Instance. The case was opened by former Hatay Metropolitan Mayor Lütfü Savaş and some delegates, alleging that irregularities occurred during the congress process. It is claimed that various promises were made to delegates in exchange for votes and that the voting was not conducted transparently.

MAIN SCENARIOS THAT MAY EMERGE FROM THE HEARING

The case was previously scheduled to be heard on September 8, but the hearing was postponed to September 15 at the request of CHP lawyers. In the hearing starting tomorrow at 10:00 AM, the court will evaluate different possibilities such as the rejection of the case, a decision of "absolute nullity," or partial annulment. The main scenarios that may emerge from the hearing are as follows:

REJECTION OF THE CASE

If the allegations are deemed insufficiently substantiated and the accusations cannot be proven in court, the case may be dismissed. In this case, the Özgür Özel administration would be preserved.

"ABSOLUTE NULLITY" DECISION

If the court rules that the congress has no legal validity in all respects, a decision of "absolute nullity" may be issued. This decision would consider the congress "null and void" and significant structural changes within the party, especially regarding the delegate structure, etc., could be reorganized. It may have political implications, such as Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu returning to the party presidency.

PARTIAL DECISION/INCOMPETENCE DECISION

The court may find some allegations invalid but accept others, issuing decisions that will have limited effects. For example, findings may emerge indicating that certain delegates were unauthorized or that voting procedures were flawed.

POSTPONEMENT OF THE CASE

The case may be postponed to subsequent hearings due to reasons such as missing documents or the completion of other legal processes. Such postponements had occurred in previous hearings.

While discussions about the lawsuit continue within the CHP, the ordinary congress schedule continues to proceed. Preparations for district and provincial congresses in party organizations are ongoing.

LÜTFÜ SAVAŞ SPOKE A DAY BEFORE THE LAWSUIT

One day before the lawsuit, former Hatay Metropolitan Mayor Lütfü Savaş, who initiated the case, made noteworthy statements. Lütfü Savaş expressed that he would be happy with either decision that comes from the court.

"I WOULD BE HAPPY WITH BOTH POSSIBILITIES"

Speaking to Sabah, Lütfü Savaş stated, "Our General Chairman Özgür Özel was referred to as the controversial chairman of the controversial congress. As a member of the Republican People's Party, I filed a lawsuit so that the name of my party would not be tarnished, to rid it of controversy, and to reveal what is true and what is not. Just as a sick person consults a doctor, I turned to the law. If it is said that there is no controversy, I will be happy, I will be pleased. If it is said that there is controversy, those responsible will be cleansed from the party, and I will still be happy. We want the 104-year-old party to be cleansed of controversy. This lawsuit is ours, the CHP members' lawsuit. No one should interfere; let justice prevail."
