Melih Gökçek and Osman Gökçek were reported to have met with the inspectors who granted permission for an investigation against Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş, as well as with the Inspection Board; it was alleged that they lobbied against Yavaş during these meetings. Following this, Mansur Yavaş filed a criminal complaint.

The Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, Mansur Yavaş, filed a criminal complaint against former Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Melih Gökçek and AK Party Ankara Deputy Osman Gökçek. It has been learned that the complaint was made following allegations that the Gökçeks were "lobbying" against Yavaş by meeting with inspectors and the Inspection Board.

According to the allegation, Melih Gökçek and Osman Gökçek contacted inspectors as part of an investigation conducted regarding Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and directed them against Yavaş. It was stated that Yavaş filed a complaint after this information came to light.

“REPORT STATING 'NO FAULT OF THE MUNICIPALITY' RETURNED”

Regarding the ANKAPARK process, the Ministry of Interior had assigned inspectors with the claim that "necessary care was not taken in protection" against the Metropolitan Municipality. In the report prepared in April as a result of the examinations, it was determined that there was no fault of the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. However, the Ministry of Interior deemed this report insufficient and sent the file back to the inspectors, ordering a re-examination.

“POSSIBILITY OF PRESSURE ON THE INSPECTION BOARD”

Sources from Ankara Metropolitan Municipality noted that despite years of applications regarding the previous administration in the ANKAPARK file, no action had been taken against those responsible, emphasizing that the new decision for examination regarding the municipality is striking. The sources shared the following assessment: "The last decision is of a kind that has never been made before. There is no precedent for it before and after 2019. While inspector reports are available in many files, including ANKAPARK, the emergence of a completely opposite decision strengthens the possibility of pressure on the Inspection Board."
