The hearing of the case, which was opened against former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş for 'insulting the President' during his speeches in Diyarbakır, Mersin, Ankara, and Mardin, was held at the Mersin 14th Criminal Court of First Instance. Demirtaş, who is detained at the Edirne F-Type High Security Closed Prison, did not attend the hearing, while his lawyer was present in the courtroom. The presiding judge decided to merge two case files opened against Demirtaş for 'insulting the President' in his speeches in Mersin and Diyarbakır, but did not find the request to merge the files regarding his statements in Ankara and Mardin appropriate.
