In the Turkish Grand National Assembly's Planning and Budget Commission, İYİ Party's Ayyüce Türkeş Taş reacted strongly to the statements made by Sümeyye Boz from the DEM Party, which associated soldiers and village guards with crimes against women. The debate escalated as other members of parliament joined in, and the Commission Chairman frequently had to call for calm.

During the discussions on the budget of the Ministry of National Defense in the Turkish Grand National Assembly's Planning and Budget Commission, a heated debate occurred between DEM Party Muş Deputy Sümeyye Boz and İYİ Party Adana Deputy Ayyüce Türkeş Taş.

Boz from the DEM Party claimed that soldiers, village guards, and expert sergeants in the East and Southeast were involved in crimes against women, stating, "The crimes committed by village guards, soldiers, and expert sergeants against women in this country are not isolated incidents. What is common among these cases? First, the uniform of the perpetrator; second, impunity; and third, the province or regions where the incidents occurred." Boz argued that there is a policy of impunity for uniformed perpetrators, citing the cases of İpek Er in Batman and Gülistan Doku in Dersim as examples. Boz's remarks sparked significant backlash in the Commission.

AYYÜCE TÜRKEŞ TAŞ'S STRONG REACTION

In response to Boz's claims, İYİ Party Adana Deputy Ayyüce Türkeş Taş reacted loudly, saying, "It's shameful, shameful! No one can say this to the Turkish army; we do not accept it. We do not accept it; how many female teachers have been martyred? A pregnant woman was raped and martyred. Enough! The addressee is me, the addressee of the Turkish army is me, the addressee of the Turkish state is me. You cannot say that, you cannot say that; such a thing cannot happen."

TENSION RISES IN THE HALL

Following Türkeş Taş's strong outburst, verbal exchanges began in the hall. While DEM Party and İYİ Party deputies reacted to each other, Commission Chair Nilgün Ök had to repeatedly call for calm.

DEBATE REFLECTED IN THE MINUTES

According to the minutes, while DEM Party's Sümeyye Boz wanted to continue her speech, İYİ Party and AK Party deputies frequently interrupted, escalating the debate. Türkeş Taş reacted again to Boz's statement, "These crimes are born from within the system. The perpetrator's uniform, impunity, and the regions where the incidents occur are common."

Other deputies in the commission also joined the debate:

  • Yüksel Selçuk Türkoğlu (Bursa): You executed half of the children in the mountains.
  • Cavit Arı (Antalya): The representatives of the army are not speaking up.
  • Yavuz Aydın (Trabzon): You will make them take back these words.
  • Nevroz Uysal Aslan (Şırnak): There is a court decision; what will you take back?

CALL TO "TAKE BACK THE WORDS" AND MUTUAL ACCUSATIONS

İYİ Party's Taş and some AK Party deputies demanded Boz to take back her words. However, Boz continued her criticisms, stating, "The addressee is here. We will ask, we will talk. In this regime, the uniform is a tool for suspending the law." As tensions escalated, Commission Chair Nilgün Ök repeatedly called for calm to avoid a break in the session.
