8-year-old Ahmet Emiralp Polat, who lost his life after a jelly bean he ate during recess in Kayseri got stuck in his throat, was laid to rest in Bünyan.
Ahmet Emiralp Polat (8), who lost his life after a jelly bean got stuck in his trachea during recess in Kayseri, was buried in the Bünyan district.
The incident occurred yesterday around 1:30 PM at Bülent Altop Primary School in the İldem Cumhuriyet neighborhood of the Melikgazi district. Second-grade student Ahmet Emiralp Polat collapsed while playing with his friends in the garden during recess. Police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification. Polat, who was taken to the hospital, could not be saved. It was learned that a jelly bean had lodged in Polat's trachea. Polat's lifeless body was placed in the morgue of Kayseri State Hospital for an autopsy. After the autopsy procedures, Ahmet Emiralp Polat's funeral was brought to the mosque in the Gergeme neighborhood of Bünyan district. He was buried in the neighborhood cemetery after the prayer held there.

Meanwhile, Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Memduh Büyükkılıç also visited the family to offer condolences and read the Quran. Büyükkılıç stated, "Yesterday, we visited to offer our condolences for the precious son of our KAYTUR staff member Volkan Polat, Ahmet Emiralp, who left us at such a young age due to a snack that got stuck in his throat at school. This tragic incident has deeply saddened us all. May God have mercy on our child, and may He grant patience, resilience, and strength to our colleague and his family. Their pain is great, their trials are difficult; however, let it be known that as the Metropolitan Family, we will always be by their side."
