Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy visited exhibitions that met with art lovers in Beyoğlu as part of the Istanbul Culture Road Festival, accompanied by his wife Pervin Ersoy. Ersoy visited four important exhibitions with different themes along the route from Taksim to Tophane.
"NURI PAKDİL AND JERUSALEM" IN TAKSIM
Starting his visit with the "Nuri Pakdil and Jerusalem" exhibition opened at the Taksim Mosque Culture and Art Center, Minister Ersoy examined works that depict the sacred meaning of Jerusalem for Muslims, the freedom struggle of the Palestinian people, and Nuri Pakdil's life dedicated to the cause of Jerusalem. The exhibition, curated by Fetullah Bingül, brings together a strong spiritual heritage through the universal language of art. The exhibition can be visited free of charge.
"JAMES CAMERON'S ART" AT ATLAS 1948
Ersoy's second stop was Atlas 1948 Cinema on İstiklal Street. "James Cameron's Art," featuring over 300 original works from the personal archive of world-renowned director James Cameron, sheds light on cinema history with drawings, costumes, film objects, photographs, and 3D technologies.
The exhibition also includes a special digital section implemented for the first time in Turkey, reflecting the creation process of unforgettable films such as "Terminator," "Aliens," "Titanic," and "Avatar." The exhibition, prepared in collaboration with the Avatar Alliance Foundation, will remain open for six months.
"FROM SKETCH TO PIXEL: HUMAN EDITION" AT TERRA SANTA
Ersoy's third stop was the "From Sketch to Pixel: Human Edition" exhibition at the Terra Santa Culture and Art Center. Curated by Ayşe Demirci Ayyıldız, the exhibition brings together works that reimagine the human body, memory, and perception through artificial intelligence, sound, data, and environmental systems.
The "Human" edition of the "From Sketch to Pixel" project, which has been exhibited in 14 different cities with over 20 editions since 2022, invites the audience to question the boundaries between technology and humanity.
WORLD PREMIERE IN TOPHANE: "STEVE MCCURRY: THE HAUNTED EYE"
The last stop of the art tour was the Tophane-i Amire Culture and Art Center. World-renowned photographer Steve McCurry is holding the world premiere of his exhibition "The Haunted Eye" in Istanbul.
Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the exhibition opened as part of 212 Photography Istanbul, bringing together 25 unforgettable photographs that shaped the artist's career, as well as 160 works that have never been exhibited before. McCurry's iconic portrait "Afghan Girl," taken in 1984, is also included in the selection. The exhibition will be on view until October 12.
