ECONOMIC THREAT TO PUTIN
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Russia launched around 500 drones and more than 40 missiles. Zelensky stated on the Telegram app, "Moscow wants to continue fighting and killing, and it deserves only the harshest pressure from the world."
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Russia carried out a large-scale air attack on the country with hundreds of missiles and drones. He said the attack demonstrated the need for tougher sanctions to "stop Russia's aggression." In a statement on social media, Sybiha wrote, "Putin must feel the danger of continuing this war. He must think of his friends' pockets, the economy, and the regime. This may convince him to stop this senseless war." Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that a fire broke out in the state cardiology hospital as a result of the attack. Some residents took refuge in underground metro stations for safety.
POLISH JETS TOOK OFF
Neighboring Poland closed its airspace near two cities in the southeast and scrambled its air force jets.
