Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced that 84 judges and prosecutors have been dismissed from the profession on the grounds of "harming the honor of law and the profession." Minister Gürlek said, "We are determinedly fighting against criminals and criminal organizations that target the peace of our nation and public order. While fulfilling the requirements of justice, we do not consider anyone's position, title, or influence. This sensitivity of ours applies equally to the members of our judicial organization."
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK) Second Chamber made decisions on the merits regarding 525 judges and public prosecutors in 2026.
84 JUDGES AND PROSECUTORS DISMISSED FROM THE PROFESSION
Minister Gürlek stated that within this scope, out of 522 judges and prosecutors, penalties were imposed on 333 of them: 168 warnings, 24 reprimands, 23 deductions from salary, 4 suspensions of step advancement, 30 relocations, and 84 dismissals from the profession.
In his statement, Gürlek noted that they resolutely fight against criminals and criminal organizations that target the peace of the nation and public order, saying, "While fulfilling the requirements of justice, we do not consider anyone's position, title, or influence. This sensitivity of ours applies equally to the members of our judicial organization."
"WE DO NOT CONSIDER ANYONE'S POSITION WHILE FULFILLING THE REQUIREMENTS OF JUSTICE"

"We resolutely fight against criminals and criminal organizations that target the peace of our nation and public order. While fulfilling the requirements of justice, we do not consider anyone's position, title, or influence. This sensitivity of ours applies equally to the members of our judicial organization.
The vast majority of our judges and public prosecutors perform their duties with devotion to law, conscience, and professional honor. However, it is clear that this title does not grant anyone privileges. Our Council of Judges and Prosecutors operates its supervision and disciplinary mechanisms effectively.
In this context, the HSK Second Chamber made decisions on the merits regarding 525 judges and public prosecutors in 2026. Of these, penalties were imposed on 333: 168 warnings, 24 reprimands, 23 deductions from salary, 4 suspensions of step advancement, 30 relocations, and 84 dismissals from the profession.
While increasing the speed and effectiveness of our justice system, we will further strengthen supervision mechanisms. We will resolutely continue our fight against criminal organizations outside and against any attitude that harms the law and professional honor within our judicial organization."
