Businessman Ercan Ekşi (46), who was involved in construction work in Pendik, lost his life on July 31 after being attacked with a gun by a person who had been waiting at the entrance of his construction site for 3 hours. The police clarified the incident by examining security cameras. The attacker was caught in Taksim after the event. The suspect, who gave a statement at the police station, confessed that he was hired for money by people he did not know. Businessman Ercan Ekşi, who was involved in construction work in Pendik, lost his life as a result of an armed attack by a person hired for money. Following the incident, the person who committed the murder was caught while walking in Taksim, and two people who helped him escape the scene were also apprehended.
Teams from the Istanbul Public Order Branch Directorate Homicide Bureau Office conducted an investigation regarding the death of businessman Ercan Ekşi (46), who was involved in construction work in Pendik, after he was wounded in an armed attack at the entrance of the construction site on July 31 and died in the hospital where he was taken.
Businessman Ercan Ekşi (46) WAITED IN AMBUSH FOR 3 HOURS Examining the security camera footage in the area, the teams determined that the suspect, who had arrived in the region on foot approximately 3 hours before the incident, waited at the bus stop and fled after opening fire with a gun just as Ercan Ekşi was about to get into his vehicle.
SUSPECT CAUGHT IN TAKSIM In the efforts carried out by the teams of the Public Order Branch Directorate Homicide Bureau Office, 480 hours of security camera footage was reviewed.
Based on the camera images, the suspect identified as having carried out the armed attack was caught red-handed by the teams while walking in Taksim in the evening hours the day after the incident, and was brought to the Public Order Branch Directorate for procedures.
It was understood that the suspect, who threw the gun into an area approximately 300 meters away after the attack, then fled to Bahçelievler with a vehicle waiting for him.
THE ATTACKER TURNED OUT TO BE A HITMAN It was learned that the suspect Muhammet G. (23), brought to the Homicide Bureau Office for procedures, confessed his crime in his statement to the police.
It was learned that in his statement, Muhammet G. said, "I don't know the contacts. I came to Istanbul from outside the city to work. I kept changing jobs. I was offered money for this job by people I didn't know, and I accepted when such an offer came. I fired with the intent to injure. My aim was not to kill."
THOSE WHO HELPED THE ESCAPE WERE ALSO CAUGHT Deepening their efforts after Muhammet G.'s statement, the teams caught Mehmet G. (27) and Özcan O. (48). On the other hand, it was learned that the pistol used in the incident, in which father of two Ercan Ekşi lost his life, was found in an empty area 300 meters from the scene. The suspects, whose procedures at the police station were completed, were sent to the courthouse.
