Images have emerged of the moments when Etimesgut Municipality Mayor Erdal Beşikçioğlu, arrested as part of the corruption investigation against the municipality in Ankara, was transferred to Konya Closed Prison. Beşikçioğlu, who was sent to prison on serious charges, appeared exhausted during the transfer, which did not go unnoticed.
New images have surfaced in the press showing Etimesgut Mayor Erdal Beşikçioğlu during his transfer to prison, following his arrest as part of the extensive corruption operation launched by the Ankara Western Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on July 30.
Beşikçioğlu, who was transferred to Konya Closed Prison after the court's arrest decision, drew attention with his condition during the journey. Seen sitting in the front seat of the transfer vehicle and leaning toward the seat, Beşikçioğlu appeared quite exhausted after the grueling interrogation and court process.
ARRESTED ON 7 DIFFERENT CHARGES
After the completion of police procedures, Erdal Beşikçioğlu was brought before the duty judge and arrested based on the very serious allegations in the file. The charges against Beşikçioğlu were listed as follows:
- Establishing and managing an organization for the purpose of committing a crime
- Being a member of an organization
- Embezzlement
- Bribery
- Extortion
- Bid rigging
- Fraud in the performance of a contract
OPERATION TOLL: 40 PEOPLE IN PRISON
The judicial processes of a total of 55 suspects detained in the simultaneous operation by the Provincial Police Department's Financial Crimes Branch have largely been completed.
After prosecutorial interrogations, 44 suspects were referred to court with a request for arrest, and 10 suspects with a request for judicial control. In line with the duty court's decision, 40 suspects, including Mayor Erdal Beşikçioğlu, were arrested and sent to prison, while judicial control measures were imposed on 14 people. It was reported that proceedings continue for 1 suspect receiving treatment in the hospital.
