The Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Murat Kurum, participated in a lottery draw within the scope of the social housing project during his visit to Çorum, and also delivered important messages regarding the post-earthquake efforts and urban transformation policies. Speaking at the program where the rights holders of 2,867 housing units were determined, Kurum emphasized that cities will be built not with slogans but with planned and determined steps.

The Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Murat Kurum, participated in the lottery held for 2,867 social housing units during his visit to Çorum as part of a series of programs. Kurum made important statements regarding urbanization and urban transformation.

FIRST STOP: GOVERNOR'S OFFICE

Starting the Çorum program with a visit to the Governor's Office, Minister Kurum signed the Governor's guestbook here. Then, participating in the lottery held within the scope of the "Homeowner Turkey" project, Kurum accompanied the process of determining the rightful owners of the 2,867 social housing units to be built in the city.

"THE DISASTER OF THE CENTURY SHOWED THE MAGNITUDE OF THE RISK"

Emphasizing that the earthquake zone is the biggest area of struggle, Kurum drew attention to the scale of the destruction experienced in 11 provinces, stating, "We lost more than 50,000 lives. As a nation, we experienced an indescribable pain. However, this pain has made us stronger."

Kurum stated that they did not leave the field during the post-earthquake process and expressed that they continuously visited the cities and neighborhoods in the region with their teams.

"MORE THAN 2 MILLION CITIZENS HAVE FOUND A HOME"

Kurum mentioned that intense efforts are being made to rebuild the destroyed cities and said that a large construction process has been initiated simultaneously in 11 provinces.

Stating, "We produced 23 houses per hour, 550 houses per day," Kurum announced that approximately 500,000 houses have been completed and that more than 2 million citizens have found homes through the work carried out at 3,541 construction sites.

"OUR MEASURE IS NOT WORDS, BUT ACTION"

Kurum indicated that their understanding of urbanization goes beyond daily political debates, saying, "For us, a city is the guarantee of peace and the infrastructure of stability. Our measure is not words; it is the work we put forth, the completed projects."

He emphasized that the delivered houses are not just structures, but also indicators of the country's production and employment.

"WE GAVE THE KEYS TO OUR MOTHERS WHO CRIED TEARS OF JOY"

Kurum stated that they responded to criticisms in the field, saying that they have achieved a significant transformation in the earthquake zone with continuous efforts day and night.

Stating, "We responded with our mothers who cried tears of joy at the key delivery ceremonies," Kurum expressed that the work done is reflected in concrete results in the field.

"URBANIZATION CANNOT BE DONE WITH RHETORIC"

At the end of his speech, Kurum emphasized urban transformation and urbanization, saying, "Urbanization cannot be done with rhetoric. Urban transformation does not happen through social media sharing. If you want to build resilient cities, you can do this not with slogans, but with plans, projects, and a determined will."

At the end of the program, the rightful owners of the 2,867 social housing units to be implemented in Çorum were determined through a lottery draw.
