The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has called for future prisoner exchanges between Hamas and Israel to be conducted in secret.



In a statement from the ICRC, it was noted that the fifth round of prisoner exchanges was completed with the release of 183 Palestinians from Israeli prisons and 3 Israelis from Gaza.

The statement expressed "concern" regarding the conditions of the prisoner exchange operations, stating, "We strongly urge all parties, including mediators, to take responsibility to ensure that future prisoner exchanges are conducted honorably and privately."



The statement also mentioned that the Red Cross is continuing its efforts to facilitate future rounds of prisoner exchanges and that a ceasefire must continue to allow more humanitarian aid to enter Gaza.



CEASEFIRE AND PRISONER EXCHANGE AGREEMENT IN GAZA



The ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement reached between Hamas and Israel came into effect on Sunday, January 19, at 12:15 PM (GMT+3).



In the first five rounds of the prisoner exchange, a total of 766 Palestinian prisoners were released from Israeli prisons, along with 16 Israelis and 5 Thais from Gaza.

According to the ceasefire agreement, which will consist of three phases, a total of over 1,900 Palestinian prisoners and 33 Israelis are expected to be released in the first phase lasting 42 days.
