Fenerbahçe executive Ertan Torunoğulları stated that the new striker transfer will join the team in June and that they aim to go to the pre-season camp with a squad that is largely complete.
Fenerbahçe Board Member Ertan Torunoğulları made special statements to CNBC-e regarding transfer plans.
"SALARIES MUST BE REDUCED"
Speaking about the football industry, Ertan Torunoğulları expressed that salaries need to be reduced, stating, "The football industry has grown significantly. We spent a lot of time abroad during the winter period and conducted extensive research. Currently, except for England, all other leagues are moving towards reducing salaries and transfer fees. Clubs are struggling to pay salaries because they do not have extra income. I have been living in the Netherlands for 35 years, and as someone from within this sector, I can say that currently, all countries except England are reducing salaries, especially for players who have reached a certain age. We also stayed in Saudi Arabia and Dubai. We met with club presidents, and they have also decided not to make big transfers or pay salaries anymore. They have made such a decision. Salaries have really increased a lot worldwide, especially in our country. Currently, the salaries paid in our country, especially by the big four, are not matched by any club in Europe, excluding England, not counting the big teams. We need to implement a salary cap; if we can't, we need to generate extra income. If we can't, believe me, in 3-5 years, salaries will not be paid in Turkey either." he stated.
"JUST SAYING 'BUY' IS NOT ENOUGH"
Ertan Torunoğulları pointed out that players are asking for higher salaries in Turkey, saying, "We need to find a solution to this as a club and federation. The brand value of football is clear, and television revenues are clear. We have fallen compared to the past. If we cannot generate extra income, we simply cannot pay. This applies to all clubs. For example, when we go to a transfer meeting, the citizens say 'buy'. Just saying 'buy' is not enough. A person who plays for 2 million in Germany wants a net of 5 million when they come to Turkey. We have already surpassed that path. We need to follow a determined policy together and reduce this. Otherwise, our job will be very difficult." he said.
''WE WANT TO GO TO THE JUNE CAMP WITH 90% FULL SQUAD''
Touching on transfers, Ertan Torunoğulları said, "I think very long-term. Many managerial friends came before us, and many will come after us. My transfer work will never end at Fenerbahçe. We also have our planning. We have players we are in talks with. We want to evaluate in May, and hopefully, if nothing goes wrong, we want to go to the June camp with 90% full squad." he responded.
''WE ARE IN DISCUSSIONS WITH FORWARDS''
Finally, addressing the striker transfer, Ertan Torunoğulları stated, "We are in discussions. We are talking with very good friends, forwards. Hopefully, if nothing goes wrong, we will have our transfers in June." he said.
