The new Minister of Justice, Akın Gürlek, made important statements regarding changes and innovations in the system during a television program he attended yesterday. Gürlek noted that significant changes would be made regarding social media, stating, "If a person is going to comment or publish a post, their identity will definitely be clear."
There is a regulation on the agenda that aims to end the era of anonymous accounts and comments on social media. It has been announced that the goal is to prevent fake accounts, especially on major platforms like Instagram, X, and Facebook. The new Minister of Justice, Akın Gürlek, made important statements during a live broadcast he attended yesterday. He also addressed the fight against online insults and disinformation in relation to social media regulation.
Minister Gürlek stated that there is information pollution on social media and that judges and prosecutors are being lynched, referring to the ongoing regulatory work.
THE ERA OF ANONYMOUS ACCOUNTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA WILL END
Minister Gürlek said, "If a person is going to comment on social media or publish a post, their identity will definitely be revealed. They will not do this with a fake account or a fake account from abroad without verifying this identity."
Gürlek, who stated that there are shares aimed at influencing the judiciary on these platforms, said, "These are wrong. If a person makes a statement on social media and targets someone, since that person's identity is known, their criminal responsibility will also begin."
Gürlek also expressed that he attaches great importance to the legislative work related to social media.
REGULATION IS IN THE FINAL STAGE
Work on social media regulation is ongoing.
Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş stated during an NTV broadcast she attended on Thursday that the social media regulation has reached its final stage.
With the new regulation, it is aimed to prevent access to social media for children under the age of 15.
Minister Göktaş explained that they see it as essential to implement this regulation in a period where cyberbullying and peer bullying are increasingly rising, and she mentioned that the regulation will be submitted to the Presidency of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in the coming days.
