The hidden ice that becomes a nightmare for drivers every winter has caused a major accident this time. With the sudden drop in temperatures in Kars, 11 vehicles collided one after another on the slippery road. Fortunately, there were no injuries in the chain reaction accident, which once again highlighted the ice hazard in the region.
After the snowfall that was effective in Kars in the evening hours, the rapid drop in air temperatures brought along the risk of hidden icing in the city.
11 VEHICLES COLLIDED
Due to the icing that occurred at the exit of Mihralibey Bridge in Şehitler Neighborhood, a chain collision involving 11 vehicles took place.
Fortunately, there were no injuries in the accident, where vehicles including cars, light commercial vehicles, and minibuses skidded and collided one after another. After the accident, police, health, AFAD, and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the area.
ROAD REMAINED CLOSED TO TRAFFIC FOR A WHILE
Teams took extensive security measures to prevent further accidents, and the highway was closed to traffic for a while before being reopened to controlled access.
Due to the ongoing cold weather in the city, warnings were issued regarding the increased risk of hidden icing, especially on bridges and ramps.
