A passenger's power bank caught fire on a Ural Airlines flight to Istanbul, causing a brief panic. The fire was brought under control by the cabin crew, and the plane landed safely at Istanbul Airport.

PASSENGER'S POWER BANK DEVICE CAUGHT FIRE

The incident occurred on February 22 on Ural Airlines flight U6773, registered as RA-73833. According to information obtained, the plane took off from Ekaterinburg Koltsovo Airport for its flight to Istanbul. Shortly after takeoff, a power bank (portable charger) used by a passenger to charge their phone began to emit smoke and then caught fire.

As the cabin crew intervened, the passenger sustained minor injuries in the incident. After the flames were brought under control with a fire extinguisher, the burning device was placed in a metal container and cooled with water. The passenger, who did not file a complaint and thanked the professionalism of the cabin crew, received first aid with cold water. Following the incident, the flight was completed without any issues as planned.

In a statement regarding the matter, the airline said, "A passenger's power bank started emitting smoke.
