President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan exercised his individual pardon authority for two prisoners under Article 104, paragraph 16 of the Constitution.
PENALTIES OF TWO CONVICTS LIFTED
According to the decisions published in the Official Gazette, the remaining sentences of two convicts were lifted due to chronic illness, disability, and old age. The justification for the pardon was the health issues documented by the Forensic Medicine Institution reports and their advanced age.
One of the pardoned individuals was 79-year-old Kerim Boran, born in 1944. Boran, who had sentences for many crimes including membership in an armed terrorist organization, was pardoned based on the Forensic Medicine Institution's 3rd Specialization Board report stating "chronic illness and old age."
Another individual pardoned based on the report prepared by the same board was Naci Kılınç, born in 1971. Kılınç, who had sentences for crimes such as "establishing a criminal organization" and "threat with a weapon," benefited from the presidential pardon due to his disability.
