Emotional moments emerged from the forest fire that started in the Menderes district of İzmir and turned numerous houses in Seferihisar to ashes. An elderly man in a wheelchair, who could not leave his home, and a citizen trapped in their house along with their cat were rescued by the teams.

The fire that started in the forested area between Menderes' Kuyucak Neighborhood and Seferihisar's Orhanlı Neighborhood grew due to the wind's effect. The flames were intervened from the air with 18 planes and 10 helicopters belonging to the General Directorate of Forestry, and from the ground with 40 water trucks, 10 water supply vehicles, and 4 bulldozers.
CITIZENS WERE EVACUATED FROM THEIR HOMES
In the area affected by the wind, teams continue to make extraordinary efforts to bring the flames under control. Despite all the interventions made by the teams from both the air and the ground, the flames reached the neighborhoods of Orhanlı, Payamlı, Atatürk, Cumhuriyet, and Kavakdere. With the call made by law enforcement officers, citizens began to be evacuated from their homes.

On the other hand, as night fell, the flames became more visible, and in many settlements connected to Seferihisar district, the flames reached the houses. An elderly man in a wheelchair was rescued by the teams.
EFFORTS TO CONTROL THE FIRE CONTINUE
Additionally, a citizen who was trapped at home with their cat was also rescued by the teams, leading to emotional moments afterwards. Efforts to bring the fire under control are ongoing.
