After the victory in Karabakh, a new chapter has been added to the normalization process that has gained momentum between Turkey and Armenia. It has been claimed that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has initiated a process for the construction of ten new mosques across the country.
According to the information obtained, five of the mosques will be built in areas close to the Turkish border, while the other five will be constructed in the country's major cities. The project is expected to strengthen cultural and religious ties between the two countries.
CLAIM THAT "ERDOĞAN ENCOURAGED"
Sources close to Yerevan suggest that the project is supported by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. It is stated that Erdoğan sees this initiative as an "opportunity" to strengthen the ties between the two countries.
In Armenia, where approximately 98% of the population is Christian, it is reported that Pashinyan is favorable towards the project and has even ensured funding through the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports.
CONSTRUCTION MAY START IN EARLY DECEMBER
The construction of the new mosques is expected to begin in early December. The only mosque currently operating in Armenia is the 18th-century Gök Mosque (Hüseyin Ali Mosque) in Yerevan.
