The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change did not forgive the municipalities of Çınarcık and Koru in Yalova, which it identified as discharging polluted water into the sea. A fine of 2 million 674 thousand TL was imposed on Çınarcık Municipality, while Koru Municipality was fined 1 million 337 thousand TL.
The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change imposed a fine of approximately 4 million lira on the municipalities of Çınarcık and Koru in Yalova due to environmental pollution.
A TOTAL FINE OF 4 MILLION LIRA FOR TWO MUNICIPALITIES
According to a statement from the ministry, teams that acted upon the flood report on Barbaros Street and Harmanlar Taşliman in Çınarcık, Yalova, determined that the line was overflowing and discharging into the sea. An administrative fine of 2 million 674 thousand TL was imposed on Çınarcık Municipality based on the Environmental Law due to pollution in the Sea of Marmara and the Special Environmental Protection Area of the Islands.
Additionally, upon complaints regarding the discharge of dirty water into the sea, ministry teams found that discharge was occurring through the channel located in front of the Atatürk Monument. Samples were taken from the discharge area. The analysis revealed that the discharged wastewater did not meet the regulatory requirements. An administrative fine of 1 million 337 thousand TL was imposed on Koru Belde Municipality, which carried out the discharge.
