Thanks to very intensive campaigns and product diversity, we can quickly elevate our position again. We are seeing the positive figures in the first 6-month data.
The average length of stay is more positive than we expected. It seems that we will complete this year with an average length of stay above our year-end expectation of 10.3. Looking at our year-end target, our target for this year was 64 billion dollars. We expect a 4.7% increase in revenue. We achieved a record revenue of 25.8 billion dollars in the first 6 months. Looking at the first 6 months, we completed it with a revenue increase of 7.6%. It was the period in which we obtained the highest revenue for the first 6-month periods."
8.4% INCREASE
The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced the Tourism Statistics for the second quarter of 2025. Accordingly, tourism revenue in the second quarter, consisting of the months of April, May, and June, increased by 8.4% compared to the same quarter of the previous year, reaching 16 billion 284 million 322 thousand dollars. The tourism revenue obtained from visitors was 16 billion 95 million 247 thousand dollars, while the tourism revenue from transfer travelers was 189 million 75 thousand dollars. Foreign residents visiting our country accounted for 16.5% of the tourism revenue from visitors.
Visitors organize their trips either personally or through package tours. In this quarter, personal expenditures made by visitors amounted to 11 billion 100 million 829 thousand dollars, while package tour expenditures amounted to 4 billion 994 million 418 thousand dollars.
NUMBER OF VISITORS INCREASED BY 2%
The number of visitors departing from our country increased by 2% in the second quarter of 2025 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, reaching 16 million 412 thousand 168 people. Foreign residents accounted for 16.3% of the visitors, with 2 million 678 thousand 105 people.
In this quarter, the average nightly expenditure of visitors staying in our country was 110 dollars. The average nightly expenditure of foreign residents was 73 dollars.
In this quarter, the share of package tour expenditures in the tourism revenue obtained from visitors was 31%, the share of food and beverage expenditures was 19.4%, and the share of international transportation expenditures was 12.8%. Compared to the same period of the previous year, international transportation expenditures increased by 13.8%, food and beverage expenditures by 13.7%, and tourism service expenditures by 12.5%.
Visitors came primarily for "sightseeing, entertainment, sports, and cultural activities" at a rate of 71.1%.
In second place, with 16.8%, was "visiting relatives and friends," and in third place, with 5.6%, was "shopping." Foreign residents came to our country primarily for "visiting relatives and friends" at a rate of 60.7%.
TOURISM EXPENDITURE INCREASED BY 41.1%
Tourism expenditure increased by 41.1% compared to the same quarter of the previous year, reaching 2 billion 759 million 918 thousand dollars. Of this, 1 billion 850 million 866 thousand dollars was personal expenditure, and 909 million 52 thousand dollars was for package tour expenditures.
The number of citizens visiting abroad decreased by 0.5% compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
