The exchange between Jose Mourinho and Mauro Icardi has garnered significant attention in the European press. Mourinho's 'GOAT' comment was interpreted differently by the French media. His remark about Icardi being a 'goat' was seen as a great irony in the French press. In response to Mourinho's words, "He is a goat," Icardi shared an image of a goat wearing a Galatasaray jersey.
The ongoing rivalry between Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray continues. Fenerbahçe's head coach Jose Mourinho recently made a statement regarding Galatasaray, to which the star player of the yellow-reds, Mauro Icardi, responded.
In a match between Galatasaray and Gaziantep FK, the Portuguese coach shared a controversial penalty incident, to which the Argentine star replied with 'Crying One' and then shared a similar incident from the Fenerbahçe match.
MOURINHO: ICARDI IS A GOAT
Before the match against Anderlecht, the Portuguese coach responded to a question about Mauro Icardi during a press conference; "I have shown that I am special with the 26 trophies I have won in my 25-year career. I prefer not to comment on Icardi because he is a 'goat', a great 'goat', I just accept it in silence," he stated.
DID HE MAKE A JOKE?
The exchange between the two has resonated widely in the French press. In an article published in L'Equipe, one of France's high-circulation newspapers, the following was stated regarding Mourinho's words; "After Mauro Icardi shared a montage referring to José Mourinho's 'Special One' nickname and criticisms of referee decisions on Instagram at the beginning of February, the Fenerbahçe coach responded to the Galatasaray forward with great irony on Wednesday."
"In his usual sarcastic tone, he responded as the Special One, a nickname he was given when he arrived at Chelsea in 2004, during a press conference."
"While the English acronym GOAT is often used to refer to the greatest of all time, this word also means 'goat' in Shakespearean language. With Galatasaray currently sitting at the top of the Turkish Championship, three points ahead of Fenerbahçe, the rematch scheduled for February 24 between the two teams seems to be heating up more than ever..."
A RESPONSE FROM ICARDI
Following Mourinho's words 'He is a goat', the Argentine striker made a response by sharing an image of a goat wearing a Galatasaray jersey.
